i went on to create a mood board series of what my perfect mix of things are this month.

In the latest issue of Kinfolk, Sammi Massey wrote some words on how catering to all five senses (touch, taste, smell, sight, sound) can ensure your visitors feel at home. The article was split up into five parts, showing examples of people who have taken this idea to the next level completely.

After reading about all of the different ways these people have gone out of their way to perfect their approach to satisfying the senses of their guests, I couldn't help but try to adopt this practice myself. Unfortunately, I'm a 19 year old college student who isn't able to afford Kvadrat's Soft Cells or elaborate daily desserts , so I'll have to just make my way with a quick change of Scentsy and Nick Drake playing over my iPod speakers for now. Although, there's really nothing wrong with that at all!

Needless to say, this idea is going straight into the idea bank for future space inspiration.

GF/NO.2 - 02/15

Everyone and their mother's dream pant has graced the hangers of Anthropologie. These culottes spoke to me from across the room on an emergency hand cream trip to Anthro, and I just couldn't help but try them on. Little did I know that once they were on, my heart would be sold on buying them. They're by the brand Cartonnier, which I do believe is a house brand, judging by the fact that no other online retailer seems to sell the brand. I could be wrong, so don't hold me to that.

But, I digress.

These pants are everything I need and more. Honestly, if someone took all of the rest of my bottoms away, and left me with only these, I'd be content.

Outings

The Fox Cabaret has proven to be my favourite spot to hang for a drink in Vancouver so far. I ended up there seeing Avi Buffalo (may I add, on one of the last dates on the last tour of the band's existence) there, and I just knew it was a match. This place has just got to be the coolest! It was converted from an old porn theatre to a fully functioning bar that houses some of the coolest events I've heard of. To my surprise, I just found out that it's only celebrating its first year of existence too, so I'm glad I was able to contribute somehow to its success. They've got a monthly dance party, Heaven, which was tweaked a bit for Valentines Day this year into an 80s prom theme. I went, and man was that place alive! Certainly will be attending this event next month.

Another cool spot I experienced this month was Rickshaw Theatre to see Ariel Pink. What an experience that was.. Jane experienced her first dad mosh. Literally got caught in the middle of a bunch of full on dads moshing their lives away. That aside, Ariel was fantastic! Danced a bunch, and chatted with the drummer for a bit after the show. Black Ballerina was the best tune.

Tunes

In a successful attempt to get the feelings of excitement flowing for Pickathon 2015 (PLZ release the lineup already, it's KILLING ME!!!) I began listening to the live sessions that grace the far corners of youtube. Luckily they had all been compiled into one playlist for me already, which made it easy to let fill the air as I cleaned the house last saturday night. One song stuck out to me in particular, Milly's Garden by Steve Gunn. I then went on to listen to the rest of that album, and the heart eyes were at an all time high.

Through Mr. Gunn, I discovered the label Paradise of Bachelors. This record label focuses on truly authentically American artists, which I've come to appreciate recently. I'm going through a massive folk/folk-rock phase. Please do, if you have a chance, check out their Soundcloud. If you enjoy a good cruisin-down-the-highway-on-a-sunny-day tune, you'll be set for a while with these guys on your side.

To Keep Your Mind Full

It's February, which means this quarter's issue of Kinfolk is out! This one's on Entrepreneurship, so it'll be really nice to read, as all of them have been so far. Can't wait to dive into this baby when I've got some time to sit down and really read it. Man, I really love this magazine, can you tell?

I was pleased to stumble upon The Jealous Curato r, a blog housing a collection of contemporary art that is just so visually appealing to Danielle Krysa, among many others, that it actually made her angry that she hadn't thought of it first! Scrolling through the pages of this blog fills me up with so much inspiration to create things. I love it. So many gorgeous visuals just filling the screen space. Certainly will be added to the morning scrolling ritual.

To Keep Your Belly Full

It's been a successful month for drinks to say the very least. I suppose I could tell you I've been eating a lot of cajun chicken sandwiches this month, but none of them noteworthy.

We'll just call this the happiest accident that ever did happen. It was breakfast time at Nelson the Seagull, and I was actually planning on ordering lemonade, but they were all out! I got the rooibos iced tea, and what a good choice that was. Would I even dare say it's the best iced tea I've ever tried? Absolutely. I'll be going back each and every sunday for my weekly fix.

After reading a book on the history of gin, I've been super into exploring all there is to explore in regards to drinks made with gin. Luckily the good fellas at The Pourhouse in Gastown hooked me right up with a Don't Mind If I do. Made with Hendricks, elderflower liqueur, simple syrup, egg whites, celery bitters and lime juice, this drink is the epitome of fresh. I was a little hesitant to try it when I heard that there was raw egg in there, but the server was very knowledgeable and explained exactly what it's used for. After the first sip, I knew I would never question that again. Mmmmmm, I'd love one of those right now.. Or 12 of them.

Lots of favourites this month. Very thrilled with all of the discoveries made, and so excited for what's to come!

it's that time of year again

Well, it's New York Fashion Week once again, and boy has everyone been killing it this season. There's been a lot of heavy knits, boxy silhouettes, blues and oranges. This makes me a happy girl. Uh well.. happy in the sense that I love looking through the pictures, dreaming of the days I'll be able to afford these beautiful garments. Although that is not the case right now, because I am a 19 year old college student, these looks will be used as inspiration for this coming fall.
